This is an interesting and fun “Teresa Riddle” which has gone viral
a few years back, twisting people’s mind and giving a totally
new meaning to the word “daughter”.

Question :

If Teresa’s daughter is my daughter’s mother,
then what is my relationship to Teresa ?

a) her grandmother
b) her mother
c) her daughter
d) her granddaughter
e) I am Teresa

Teresa Riddle Solution :

1st, we need to break up the statement
“If Teresa’s daughter is my daughter’s mother” into
2 parts.

From a First person perspective, “my daughter’s mother” also
refers to “myself”. (E.g. I am a mother and I say “my daughter’s
mother” which is essentially a long and confusing way of referring
to me)

Hence, when we combine the 2 parts together, the statement becomes,
“If Teresa’s daughter is me (myself), then what is my relationship to Teresa ?”
and the answer would be c) her daughter !

Another possible answer which is not part of the 5 choices can be approached
from a Second person perspective, “my daughter’s mother” which refers
to “my wife”. (E.g. I am the father and I say “my daughter’s mother”
which is the same as “my wife”.

Hence, when we combine the 2 parts together, the statement becomes,
“If Teresa’s daughter is my wife, then what is my relationship to Teresa ?”
and the answer would be son-in-law !
